Software you need: iPhoto

iPhoto does its best to remove “red-eye” in photos as they are being imported into your photo library. If a person’s eyes still look red in a photo, you can significantly reduce the appearance by using the Red-Eye tool in iPhoto. You can only remove red-eye from human eyes.

How do you reduce red-eye with iPhoto?

Step 1. Launch iPhoto on your Computer

Open your iPhoto application. You can access this through the icon on your dock. This will bring up your gallery of pictures.

Step 2. Choose the red-eye photo you want to edit

Choose the picture on which you want to correct the red eye. To do this, either double click on the picture to open the editing window or click once on the picture and then click "Edit" at the bottom of the task bar.

Step 3. Remove red-eye from the photo.

When the picture is opened in the editing window, click the "Red-Eye" button from the bottom task bar. You will receive a message that directs you "To remove red eye, click the center of each eye."

Step 4. Save the red-eye removed photo

Take your cursor and click in each eye (or one, depending on the problem) to see the red eye removed. Once you are satisfied that the red-eye reduction is complete, click "Done" at the bottom of the task bar. Your edited picture will be saved in place of the old one.
